Firenze

We spent two nights in Florence (Firenze, in Italian) - meaning we had one full day in Florence. We woke up and it was raining but we managed to pack in a lot of sights. Highlights were the Duomo (massive cathedral), the Palazzo Vecchia (which was the palace of the Medici family, Renaissance patrons extraordinaire), and an old perfumerie, where they make the Acqua di Santa Maria Novella, which was an ancient remedy for hysteria!

Florence is a great place to visit because it is just chock full of Renaissance history. I've separated photos from some of the highlights into separate posts, because the blog app that I use doesn't allow me to put captions under my photos.

The picture of Holland rubbing the pig statue's snout is something you're supposed to do to guarantee you'll come back to Florence someday!
