We're alive and well! I'm now recovered enough from moving (for those who don't know, Holland and I recently bought a house and were frantically moving in the week before we left for Italy...all while I was working night shifts) and flying to update the blog. I've actually been meaning to do this for months - ever since we moved to Portland - but it seemed like things
never slowed down enough.
We spent the first few days in Rome. The pictures you see are of the Forum, Coliseum, and the ridiculously huge monument to a unified Italy (that's the large white wedding cake structure).
The random picture of Holland is from our flight from JFK to Rome on Alitalia, the Italian airline. They have a very nice seat class called Classica Plus, which is between first and coach and gets your drinks, food, free movies, and reclining seats with footrests. Totally worth it!
Due to Holland's airline diligence, he got us upgraded to first on our Portland to JFK leg as well, so that was a very nice honeymoon present!
After three nights in Rome, we went to Lucca. I'll post pictures of that tonight. We're now in Florence and need to head out to see the sights!
