These are the jugs of coolant that I bought today at the auto supply store. Unfortunately, my car is leaking coolant yet again. This is the third time this has happened. It usually seems to be when there is some extreme in temperature here - it happened last year about this time and then this winter during a particularly cold snap. I've spent more money than I like to think about replacing my radiator, tubing, and water pump, each time thinking that I will fix this one thing and then maybe my car will get me though another year or two (it's currently 11 years old).
Each time it breaks, my AC or my heat will quit working then I look down at the temperature gauge and apparently my engine is about to blow up. The first time it happened, my coolant tank actually melted because I didn't realize that I need to turn the car off right away. But now I know better. I checked my coolant tank after it happened again yesterday and it was empty. I filled it up and now I'm stocking up on coolant in anticipation of future refills. The last time this happened, it was a fairly brisk leak and I had to refill the tank every 1.5 or so days. Best case scenario, maybe this one will be slower and I can put off the expensive repair for a little while.
I think I really probably just need to bite the bullet and buy a new(er) car. It's just really unfortunate timing for me financially. =( I love my little car and feel so sad that it keeps breaking!
